Track and Field Stars Commit to Four-Year Colleges

Butte College is proud to announce that two of its standout women's track and field athletes, Julia Norman and Talynn Schroeder, have committed to continue their athletic and academic careers at four-year institutions.

Julia Norman has committed to Cal Poly. Norman's 2024 season was nothing short of spectacular, earning her the title of state champion in javelin and an All-American honor in the same event. She also dominated the Golden Valley Conference (GVC) championships, securing titles in long jump, triple jump, javelin, high jump, the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay.

Talynn Schroeder is set to join San Francisco State, bringing her impressive talents to the Gators. Schroeder earned All-State honors in the heptathlon in 2024, following up on her 2023 All-State performance in the same event. In the 2024 season, she excelled at the GVC championships, winning titles in the 100 hurdles and the 4x100 relay. She also showcased her skills at the NorCal championships, finishing third in the 100 hurdles.

Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional dedication and performance and their commitments to Cal Poly and San Francisco State mark the beginning of exciting new chapters in their athletic careers. Butte College congratulates Julia and Talynn and wishes them continued success at the next level.
